We live and breathe all things weddings here at The Waltham Barns, so thinking about what’s in-vogue for 2022 weddings is something we love to do!
We have a unique and very privileged perspective too, as we help countless couples plan their special day – therefore we stay one step ahead of the trends.
Keep on reading to find out what we think this year’s wedding trends will be…
Use of outdoor spaces
We’ve all had a newfound appreciation of outdoor spaces over the past couple of years, and last year certainly reminded us just how lucky we are to have an abundance of beautiful outdoor space here at The Waltham Barns.
With exclusive use of our wedding garden and wedding courtyard, couples are free to create their own mini festival, and dance the night away under the stars.
Back garden weddings are on lots of 2022 wedding trend lists, and while we can see their appeal, the reality is that they’re simply not possible for most UK couples. Not many people have a back garden large enough to host all their friends and family!
But you can enjoy aspects of a back garden wedding by making good use of The Waltham Barns’ outdoor spaces. You and your guests are free to use them as you wish and really feel at home during your special day.
Earthy, natural colour themes
This is a trend we’ve been seeing all over social media, whether it’s home decor, party decor or wedding themes, and we can completely see why.
Neutral, stylishly rustic styles with whites, browns, greens and foliage are effortlessly cool and chic.
We always think couples should go with whatever theme feels the most “them”, but if you’re after a timeless, classic colour palette, an earthy, natural vibe could be perfect for you.
A great example from 2021 would be Thomas and Lauran’s wedding, and the ceremony room styled by Occasions Covered – we loved the simple, fresh style and use of eucalyptus, and we expect to see lots more of this theme over the coming months.
Wedding planning/invitation apps
If you’ve been invited to a wedding recently, were details shared via a swanky new app?
We’re seeing these wedding planning apps becoming more and more popular, and they do indeed make certain aspects of wedding planning very convenient.
Apps can help couples invite guests, share the schedule for the day and accommodation options, create a registry, ask for music requests and much more. They can also be a place for guests to share photos after your special day.
It’s no surprise that in our digitally fuelled world, wedding planning apps would become commonplace, and we predict that this will only continue in 2022.
Intimate weddings
The restrictions that we experienced over the last two years meant that many couples had no choice but to have a small wedding.
However, we found that many were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful intimate weddings can be, and that it inspired lots of engaged couples to have a small-scale guest list by choice.
Intimate weddings may be small in size, but they are by no means smaller in love, great vibes and treasured memories. And a more low-key wedding day suits many couples. While we love large, opulent weddings, we understand that they’re not right for everyone.
The Waltham Barns now offers an intimate wedding package for 30 day guests, which is already proving to be very popular. We see no signs of this changing, regardless of the lifting of wedding restrictions.
