The 19th of July is here, which means lots of changes for the weddings and events industry.
While we adore intimate weddings and have enjoyed hosting many, we appreciate that they’re not right for all couples. From today, whether you want a small wedding with just those closest to you, or a large event with lots of entertainment and a proper dance floor, you are free to do so!
In this blog, we’ll be summarising the main changes to wedding rules – keep reading to be in the know.
The main changes to weddings in a nutshell…
Most importantly for many couples, from today there are no rules on how many people you can have at your wedding – although obviously this depends on how many people your venue can accommodate!
The Waltham Barns can accommodate up to 90 ceremony guests and 150 informal evening guests – which will be plenty for most couples. Cutting back numbers to 30, or even just 15 at some points, has been a tricky task for many, so we are glad that couples are now free to extend an invitation to all.
The dance floor is back open!
The dance floor is officially back open, as singing and dancing is permitted. We are looking forward to seeing guests let their hair down with loved ones again. We know that DJs and bands are also itching to get back doing what they do best – so we suspect the atmosphere will be amazing.
Being mindful of each other’s personal wishes
Guests will also no longer be required to follow social distancing guidelines, although some may still prefer to keep their distance from other households, so it’s important to be mindful of each other’s wishes.
It’s a similar situation for face coverings – they are no longer a requirement, but it’s a personal choice whether you want to wear one or not. Some may not be ready to get back to “normal”, so we encourage everyone to be respectful and aware of each other’s personal boundaries. It goes without saying that our wedding coordinators and events team will also be respectful.
Rest assured that we will continue to clean thoroughly, as we always have done, with extra attention on touch points. We also offer couples and their guests exclusive use of our large paved courtyard for the entirety of their special day, which provides an airy break-away area for mingling, outdoor games and even a barbecue.
